Health & Wellbeing Pilot Programme

Are you interested in your own and other people’s health? Do you like to assist others in the community? Then this Pilot Short course might be for you!
This pilot programme is based at NMIT Marlborough and is planned to be delivered one day per week for five weeks. There will be a range of practical activities which offer meaningful and engaging experiences to explore Health and Wellbeing in the region, including a visit to a local healthcare provider. Students will be working in the Science laboratory at NMIT and will need to wear closed toe shoes. Come and join us and be part of something that will shape the future of Trades Academy options in this region.
The content is likely to include:
- Introduction to the health system and career pathways
- Introduction to Nursing, Social Work, and Counselling
- Body systems and physiology
- Visit to a healthcare provider (e.g. hospital)
- Mental health and wellbeing

On completion of this course you will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of infection control requirements in a health or wellbeing setting
- Describe factors that contribute to mental health wellbeing and mental health challenges
Note: This is pilot programme and your feedback will be instrumental in shaping future options in this area.
