Through hands-on experiences, field trips and expert guidance, students will emerge equipped with the knowledge and experience to pursue pathways in these essential sectors.
On completion of this course you will be able to:
- Describe the location and history of salmon farms in New
Zealand, the products produced and the market destinations. - Identify the salmon species that are farmed in New Zealand
and worldwide, their life-cycles and associated challenges. - Inspect and use horticultural harvesting equipment to harvest
by hand. - Perform proper handling and transportation of a horticultural
crop to receiving containers. - Describe alcoholic fermentation processes used in commercial
wine cellar operations. - Demonstrate preparation of fermentation tasks in a commercial
wine cellar.
