Engineering (Mechanical & Aeronautical)

If you are interested in mechanics, engines and aviation, and relish in a technical challenge, then join us at the NMIT Woodbourne Campus at The Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) Base.

In this hands-on course, you’ll get to work in both the mechanical and aviation workshops, learning how to machine, weld and fabricate with metal. You’ll be building projects such as rocket stoves and fire pits, using CAD/CAM software to create 3D printed models, and learning about the principles of aircraft flight. Get amongst real aircraft and cutting-edge technology and gain invaluable insights into the exciting realm of Aviation Engineering—a profession in high demand and ripe with opportunity.

You will take field trips to local Aviation points of interest throughout the year and connect with NMIT’s industry partners such as AirNZ, Rocket Lab and AirForce recruiters.
