Rocky Puklowski
Rocky would like to gain an engineering apprenticeship when he leaves school, so taking engineering at Trades and also doing it as a subject at school was a logical decision for him.
“We get to use a lot of advanced machinery and tools at Trades. I can now pick up lots of tools and know how to use them properly. Even on our first day here we got to practice our welding skills, which is really important if you want to be an engineer.”
Rocky also enjoys the freedom he has at Trades to try out his skills and experiment with different ways of doing things. “This course is really hands-on and practical. Our tutor let’s us try and figure things out for ourselves, but he’s always there to help out if you don’t get it quite right. We’re also not rushed for time because we’re here all day. If there’s a problem our tutor takes the time to explain it and together we work out a solution, so you don’t feel really pressured.”
