Eleus Klose
Being in the outdoors, tramping, climbing and fishing, has always been part of Eleus’s life, so enrolling in the Adventure Leadership programme really appealed. “I like being in the outdoors – it’s good to get out of your comfort zone and push yourself. The first week of the programme was rock climbing, where we had to climb some really high and challenging walls. We had to learn to trust one another and rely on our climbing partner.”
One of the highlights for Eleus came in the second week of the programme when they went sea-kayaking. “It was pouring with rain, which made the kayaking quite challenging (and very wet), but then we got to kayak to the seal colony and the seal pups came right up and swam around us. They even climbed onto our kayaks to look at us! That was amazing.”
For Eleus, the programme meant that he was able to develop his practical outdoor skills as well as make friends with students from other schools “In the end everyone got to know each other, have fun and gain credits as well”. He also says that the tutors were really experienced and developed a good connection with all the students. Eleus would definitely recommend the programme to others.
