I signed up for the Automotive Engineering course because I like cars and motorbikes and I wanted to know more about them, how they work and how to fix them. My favourite place is in a workshop pulling engines apart to see what they do, how they work and putting them back together again.
I really enjoyed this course because the tutors know so much and it’s easy to ask for help. The tutors are good at explaining things and encourage us to try new ways of doing things. Trades day on Thursdays is the best day of the week for me, I enjoy the other students and I have made new friends.
One of my favourite skills I have learned so far on the course is how to change tires and to fix punctures, now I can fix my own tires and help my friends with theirs too.
When I leave school, I will be joining the NMIT Pre Trade Level 3 course in Automotive Engineering and I’m keen to learn more about heavy vehicles, like those used in the Australian Mining operations.
