“I would definitely recommend Trades Academy Aquaculture and Maritime to others. It was a great taste of the industry and an amazing learning experience. It really gives you a leg up if you decide to pursue the course at NMIT.
My favourite bit was part of the maritime side. We went out on the boat. They taught us to drive it and we got to take it around Tasman Bay and get our boat handling licence as well as manoeuvring the boat over wake and up to the side of the wharf.
I decided to go to the University of Otago because I felt it would be an amazing experience. From there I want to complete my degree in Marine Biology, doing my own research and finding out my own things about the ocean and what it holds. The diploma really helped me into uni in the way that it is structured to really give you the best opportunity to learn.”
