Rose Vinsen

Health and Services
Nelson College For Girls
Rose’s career goal is to work in the medical field, most probably as a nurse. Taking the Health and Support Services Trades programme has helped Rose decide that this is definitely the area that she wants to work in.
“I love learning in this class and having new things to do that I’m genuinely interested in.” She says that visiting Nelson Hospital and watching a surgical operation has been a highlight of the year so far.
Rose is really enjoying the content of the course, learning about support services, patients’ rights, physiology and anatomy and hygiene procedures. She says that the students in the programme have a very good relationship with the tutor, who is really helpful and approachable.
For Rose, managing her time to balance her studies between school and Trades hasn’t been difficult.
Looking to the future, Rose intends to complete Year 13 at school and then return to NMIT to study towards a Bachelor of Nursing degree.
